Anchor receives Spotlight Award at Breaking Down Barriers Awards
Anchor, the largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people in England, has been awarded a Spotlight Award at the 2025 Breaking Down Barriers Awards. The award recognises Anchor鈥檚 commitment to digital inclusion, community safety, diversity and resident wellbeing.聽
Held in Parliament and attended by Anchor colleagues and residents, the awards run by the Purpose Coalition celebrated social mobility champions who are actively creating opportunities across the UK. The Spotlight Award shines a light on those who have shown exceptional dedication and impact in their particular fields.
The judges praised Anchor's innovative approaches. This includes the Be Digital program, which provides free devices and digital training to help residents stay connected, and the Be Well initiative, which provides a holistic framework supporting residents鈥 mental, physical and social wellbeing. Anchor鈥檚 Community Safety Team was also praised for its work to foster safer, more inclusive neighbourhoods.
In addition to the Spotlight Award, Anchor was also shortlisted for the Open Recruitment Award and Closing the Digital and AI Divides Award.
Sarah Jones, Chief Executive at Anchor, said:
The Spotlight Award is wonderful recognition for dedicated colleagues as well as the residents who generously give their time to build communities where people love to live.
Nick Forbes CBE, Purpose Coalition Engagement Director and former member of Sir Keir Starmer鈥檚 Shadow Cabinet, said:
